My Elky is not is superb condition. I'll admit that. Sometimes i get angry with my truck, even enraged. I mean i love it, its even the thing in my life i love 2nd most (1st wins by a wide margin though  )

Anyhow, i'm noticing more and more recently that i get comments on it! I went to Autozone for an air filter, and 2 people stopped me to talk about it in the parking lot (1 on the way in, one on the way out). This afternoon, while i was drilling in the bow for my new bed cover, someone commented "sweet truck". considering i paid $2500 for it and its not even a better model, being a 229 V-6 Conquista, i am LOVING this attention. i cant wait till the summer comes and i make enough money to really make this thing into the beast i want it to be.

I agree. I get almost as much attention with my Elky as I get with my other toy, and my other toy is considered an exotic car.

Its a Vette! The first hardest Chevrolet to work on just in front of the El Camino. Tight spots abound! :x And I should add probably the most expensive to insure! But a Chick Magnet and a damn fine car to drive.

Oh, ive got the psychopath part down ;-)

I just need to work on the loudness... cutting at the cat and ending there should help eh? maybe? I dunno I could be asking for trouble making it that loud  how about a glasspack? that should solve my problems

Welcome aboard.

So are you saying that there is only one there and you own it? Isn't Jerzy pretty big? Ft. Worth Texas is a "Two Horse" town and we have lots of Elkys. Only the younger generation have that lack of knowledge. Ask em about a Honda or a Mitsubishi and some know them well. Other just like to drive em and daddy takes care of it for them.

Actually, ElkyPete, it's the current King-of-the-Hill Corvette, a Z06. That's what makes it fit the exotic category. It's got the torque of a Viper and the sex appeal of a Ferrari at half the sticker price. The automotive world's finest bang-for-the-buck value. But, ocassionally, I think I'd just as soon have three rare Elky's. A '59 348 w/tri-power, a '70 SS 454 and my '87 ChooChoo SS. Life is just full of perplexing decisions.

So tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me what is the Z06?!?! No kidding, I know about it but, I don't know what the ?6.0L? is CI. Real Horsepower? Feel like your on fly paper when cornering? Heads Up display? 4 wheel Air Sensors? "Leave the traction control off"

No **** what is it like driving it?!?!?!?! :-D :-D :-D

It's the LS6, a reworked cam and intake LS1, the newest generation 350, but it's much more than a 350. The 2002-2003 Corvette Z06 is rated at 405hp. There aren't any autocross events in Chattanooga, TN, so I don't get to really wring it out too often. I've hit 140 and basically ran out of road to keep going. I was starting to pucker some, anyway

It's my 10th Corvette, and I've owned a couple of other hoss Corvettes, but this is the "keeper."

I understand that Chevrolet took most of the European Ralleys the last year or two with the "Bone Stock off the showroom floor" Vettes. No Lotus, BMW Nothing took em.

When Mr. Goodwrench wants to really design a piece of muscle they really can. I wanted the SSR to be the LS1 not the 4.3L. It could have been a really nice truck with a mod here and a mod there.

So do you have the heads up display and if so what is it like driving with it at night?

ElkySS

Yep, HeadUp and six-speed manual are standard on the Z06. It's cool driving while looking at the windshield for all the vital car readings. Shows up decent in the day, also. They changed the "film" on the inside of the windshield after the first year of HeadUp option, to better show in sunlight.

Guess I better get back to talking El Camino stuff here, don't want to abuse the forum. 8-)

"To me" an El Camino is just a Vette with a bed for insurance purposes. When I am in my 76 cruising people wave, look, drive very fast past me and sometime slow down to see if I want to show off.

That means I have their attention. Much like your Vette has mine.:D I want to do a really radical Muscle Elky. I want it to look just as bad as it is. I want it to take mid 10s in the 1/4. My 80 is almost complete and I've been looking at some serious pony power in the form of Big Blocks with Nitrous. My 76 would get about 8 or 9s in the 1/8 the 80 should pull in around low to mid 12 or less in the 1/4. I'll know for sure by summer's end.

But the next I want to be more! Nasty bright Metallic Yellow Pearl, black vinyl top just like Original, pearl black Ghost SS Stripes (Got it down now I think I can do it.) Engine is still an open option. Close to the same T-56 6 speed you're running. Just ludicrous amounts of obscene horse power.

I'm only a CAM away from that on most.

Oh your not bursting my bubble. :D It is good to see youngsters, I say that like it was a million years ago for me. Oh my gawd! I am turning into my Dad! ..... Anyway, see them keep the Iron alive.

Facts are when I was growing up the tri-5s and 57s were the cars to own, they were indeed a lot newer when I was young and when I got to be buying age I could only afford a 54 ($75.00!). But I was looking at the 67, 68 & 69 Malibus. The Heavy Chevy, Any SS almost had a 396 Ci BBC. They were fresh and new and a lot better than my Hot Water Six W/3 on the tree. The car of the day. I grew up Chevrolet.

So I figure that, and observe it too, the majority of the young drivers and wanna be drivers are watching the Fast & Furious Seeing the cars of the times, much like I did, and saying man... I want me one of those! :D And eventually your kids or their kids will be watching the last of the Gas powered internal combustion engine going away.

Can you imagine what it would feel like to have an electric motor for a Power Plant? No Torque. Take forever to reach 55.
