My HEI isnt starting. I've replaced the rotor, control module, and the coil. I still isnt getting spark. It is in time, but it is pissing me off. I was old that it could be the pickup/stator could be bad. He told me that the pickup is famous for going out. Is that true? Do you think that might be the problem? Dont you have to pull the distributor to work on the pickup? Your help is deeply appreciated! Thanks, Dave

Are you getting 12 volts to ground on the BAT wire?

The forward outer terminal, on the HEI, is marked BAT. There should be 12 volts on this lead with the key turned to ON. Is there 12 volts on this connector?

I got the POS started. It was the pickup/stator that wasnt any good. Its done and runnin'. Just pissed me off having it sit in the damn parking lot, and couldnt get it home to work on it. But I fixed it and drove it home.

Pickup/stator? The stator is unlikely to become defective, the ignition module is the most likely culprit, did you have to change the stator?

the stator was the problem

The same was true with me. It was'nt the module.
