Hey thanks for the suggestion on taking it off of a Camaro
I don't know what other cars are compatible with my el camino
parts wise. I am very lucky to have ECC on the internet yesterday
The elcamino has been a great car since I got it a year ago but of course since I have started a courier service here in Tacoma now it will break down. hehe

Pulling the pump is not that difficult. The pulley is a little difficult to get off unless you have a puller. If you decide to replaci it yourself, be sure to install new hoses. NAPA sold replacement hoses at one time, but I am not sure if they still sell them. You may have to call around to find them.

If you hire it done, it should not run over $150.00 (rebuilt pump) at an honest mechanic's shop. However, if you go to the dealer, hold onto your wallet.

well mine isnt exactly muck but its getting there.....to change the oil you have to take the whole thing out? there isnt a plug or an easier way to do it?? (ive looked for a plug but didnt find it)

8) You can empty the steering pump fluid by disconnecting the return line at the back of the pump. It's the only line that can be disconnected the other one is welded on. Put a drip pan under it, open the filler cap and let it run out. The steering box will have fluid in it, the only thing I can think of to clean the steering box out is to reconnect the return line, fill your pump again and start your car, if nothing else it will dilute the dirty stuff. I hope this helps a little!
