In August of this year, my Caballero was hit while parked by a blacktop machine - trashing the tailgate & drivers side quarter. This vehicle was purchased directly from GM in 1985, spent its life in Florida until last year. I\t's black & Gray two-tone...and is loaded - cloth buckets/console/ a 5.0L 4spd OD (not the 200), performance axle, cooling pkg, towing, PW, PL, cruise, all gages, et al. The powertrain is 1/100 built, according to EPA data. The truck has ~90,000 miles. The interior was just re-done (all new cloth, and carpet) 2 months ago.
I am currently negotiating with the insurance company and am trying to decide its value. Can someone tell me how rare the interior of this car is? I have not seen ONE Caballero with bucket and console shift.
HELP!

I thought the Caballeros were the top end luxury models. I've never heard of bucket seats in them if I'm thinking of the right model. Maybe it was special order. Price guides aren't much help so you really have to compare with what they go for in your area.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure how luxury its positioning was but it is a nice driving truck. I may end up parting it out. Do you know someone who would be interested in buying the entire truck as is?
Thanks

Maclyn,
I have decided to sell the entire truck as is. Please email me at dave@lakesidelift.com and we can discuss further. I have the original paperwork showing the purchase directly from GM and the exhaustive list of options.

I can tell you I have an 1987 Caballero and buckets with console shifter. But no emblems, so if you're willing to part them, let me know!

What do you mean emblems? The truck has them all over it including the Amarillo decal.

Well I thought that I would tell you that a few weeks ago I went and bought 4 elcaminos. Well on of them was a Caballera and it was a 80 I think and has buckets seats but it was a parts car and I ended up purchasing the lot of 4 for $550 so you know that your car before the accident is worth more than $137. But I guess that is the only one that had bucket seats so it has gotta be a little rarer than in the elkies.

I'm not sure what there's supposed to be besides the "Caballero" on the front grille and the GMC on the tailgate. Is there anything on the door or quarter panel? I'm looking for everything but the hood ornament.

I have a Caballero on the rear of each quarter panel and an Amarillo on the RH side of the dashboard. I also have a Amarillo on the RH side of the tailgate.
