Hey,
I just put my new edlebrock carb on, andmy gas pedal is really stiff now, my dad said it might be the linkage not lined up properly. What can I do. My elky is a 79, with a 350 4 barrel
Thanks

Did you change or put on a different return spring? Or maybe you need a new return spring not as strong for the new carb.

i just did a 4bbl swap and had a heII of a time getting the pedal smoothed out........it was the bracket for the kickdown/throttle. I bought an edelbrock bracket (i think pn. 8036) and i was lined up nicely and everything is working fine now. Good luck.

8O hey guitargod2811, do you have a Cable for the Throtle? If so, it might be binding...try opening the throttle by hand & see if it's hard, if it's not, your butterfly's might be rubbing on the manifold when they try to open. Can you post a pic of the Linkage side of the carb? "SKULL"

The factory throttle cable bracket does not properly align with the Edelbrock linkage. You will need to bend it to a better anle, or buy a throttle bracket for a Holley or Edelbrock carb. Spectre makes a real nice cheap chrome one. Also if your car came from the factory with a quadrojet carb, you will need the adapter plate. Otherwise the butterflies on the carb bottom out on the intake manifold. That could also cause a tight linkage. I had that problem when i bought my elky, the guy before just bolted a square flange Edelbrock carb onto a quadrojet manifold! It wont work that way! Good Luck! -Matt
