Ok so sue me I am getting excited, I called machine shop about machining the 882 heads i got, and after the quote, said screw it, and went anbd bought a kit that my GM dealer offers. 2 Brand New L31 Vortec heads, complete with springs good to .550 lift, Edelbrock Air Gap performer intake, bolts gaskets ect, spent $987.67. SO you guys that are engine smart, look at my signature, and give me a clue what i am looking at performance wise please.

Pretty close to my set-up, cept for your new heads! What ratio do you have in the rear-end? You might consider upping the stall to 2400-2500.

according to the number off the axle i called in i have a 2.41, but it sure winds the hell up when i am doing 65-70, It might have been changed, never had a 2.41 that would spin the tire with a stock 305

You'll be starving for air you need around 650 to 750 CFM. The cam XE274 actually builds torque in the high end but takes away some from the low end which is where you need it for launch.

My best guess, and have someone who has DD2000 check this but I'd say you'd be approaching 400 Hp I wouldn't say over that. Go to the Performance Forum at ChevyTalk and have someone with DD2000 check your set-up figures. It will give you a really close figure.

I could be wrong. Sound like a good build though. I'd get a bigger Carb. What headers are you running short or long? You're not even going to approach 400 with stock exhaust manifolds, they just don't flow well enough or enough period.

dd2k says for my 455 buick like 340 hp and 450 tq
factory its 390,510 lol 8O

On the 350 that is probably pretty close to correct. I was thinking around 380. If you have a bone stock 455 and DD2k doesn't come close to what the factory spec is then it is probably some parameter that is incorrect in DD2k.

That's why I went with a 750 and a 1" composite spacer to bring the bottom end back up....

Well it is gonna have to just starve, after my last purchase I am officailly broke. The L31 Vortec heads and Air Gap Intake HAD to be bought, i figured got everything else new why take a chance on heads. I mean I can still get the stuff I have to have, but I'm just gonna hae to not launch for spit. I hope the 14x6 K&N helps with the air issue, and can always re-jet the 600. My elkie should take MOST of the cars off the line, as i have noticed a scary trend where muscle cars are alot like frogs. They are disappearing! Tommorrow when you drive to work, pay attention, look around, and think think about say 15 years ago in same traffic. You use to always see some guy in a primer grey 67 camero siting at a light, body shaking and exhaust just growling qith a deep growl awaiting the pretty shade of green.

Now flash forward, can you smell RICE! Lil imports litter the streets, 3" off the ground with their lil misguided drivers thinking they are Van Desil in Fast and Furious. They forget that when he got serious, he pulled out a MUSCLE CAR, AMERICAN MADE AND PURE CUBIC INCH ORGASM! But no, here I sit at a light, with some lil dork in a 4door hand-me-down Nissan, a HUGE wing on the back, some cheap ass exhaust that makes it sound like pissed of swarm of flies. And he leaves the light goes thru 3 gears, and is just hitting 40mph WHOA! SLOW DOWN THERE SPARKIE!

The above is why I CHOSE to spend 3500.00 on my engine rebuild(at this writing, sure to be more) and show that as fast as some of those lil imports may or may not be, you CAN NOT replace the sound and looks of a well built street pounder, sitting at a light, body rockin, exhaust growling, and leave the light, that 2nd gear scratch, and your not even on the gas.......OH HEY SPARKIE! YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS DROOLING OVER THERE, MIGHT WANNA TRADE THAT IN AND START OVER!

Well that rant felt good.

Good call to get rid of the 882's...they're prone to cracking in a big way.
