i just bought a 73 el camino but im not sure about the vin i was told the engine was a 400 but the vin makes me think its a 454.
the vin is 1D80Y3Z440539

i decoded the vin and it says its a 454 but its a small block with a 2 barrell carb and it is the original engine.

I can only go by what the books and documentation I have says. Maybe it is one of those unusual things that sometimes happen. The VIN indicates that it was made in CA. Not sure if that helps or not.



My last question would be: Does the VIN number and the engine block number match up?

I have just got the engine code of the engine. It is V0207CMD and the engine vin is 12L552022. Am i right in saying the engine is not matching
and its a 350. im not sure if i am reading it right or not.
