After planning to make it to the track at 8pm, I ended up getting there at about 9:20pm. I was through inspection in 5 minutes, and pulled into the lanes to wait my turn to make a run.
My first run came at 10:27pm. I didn't do a burnout, just to test the traction, and slowly rolled into the throttle. By the time I got to the tree I went full throttle, and to my surprise no tire spin! Reaction time was a .321 (with a .000 being a perfect light), 60' time was 2.437. 1/8th mile was 9.735@74.42mph, and 1/4 mile was 14.993@92.77mph. I definately met my goal of running a 14.99 or better on my first run with plenty of room for improvement, or breakage. :(
My second run came at 11:07pm. I did the same thing as my first run, except a light burnout to clean the tire (stock non-posi rearend) of pebbles or anything else stuck, and I wound the engine out a little more before shifting (45mph first to second, and 80mph second to third). Reaction time was .372. This run I rolled into the throttle a little quicker which netted a 2.349 60'. 1/8th mile was 9.583@74.75mph, and 1/4 mile was 14.839@92.87.
My third run was at 11:34pm. Same as previous runs, rolling into the throttle quicker and winding the engine out more (shifting at 50mph and 85mph). Reaction time was .212 with a 2.234 60' 8O . 1/8th mile was 9.412@75.19mph, and 1/4 mile was 14.640@93.22mph.
On my fourth run I decided to do a little bigger burnout, and get on the throttle HARD! I did about a 4 second burnout and let off the brake to roll out, while still on the throttle. Well, a few feet after I started rolling forward, the rearend squated down, the front end picked up more than it has before and I heard (and felt) a loud SNAP and what sounded like bearings spinning. I immediately stopped, with the transmission still in gear I gave it a light blip of the throttle. Result... car still moves. So I decided to continue and make the run. I was staged with a '69 (I think) Chevelle with 307 emblems  . When I saw that third yellow light come on, I nailed the throttle to a .235 reaction time. And heard another SNAP! This time it was accompanied with the sound of the transmission whining very loud (kinda sounded like an F1 car). I let off the throttle and slowly made my way to the end. 60' for this run was a 2.235 with a 1/4 mile time of 17.64@67mph. The chevelle ran a 13.69@101.

I pulled into the parking lot and grabbed my flashlight to check for any drips or anything underneath. Nothing, nothing new. Then I opened the hood to check the driver's motor mount/frame stand.

Problem: Broke frame stand, that was welded to the frame, right off. This is the second time this has happened to me. It's broken in a different place each time.

Solution: Chain the motor down next time.

Overall I had an excellent time and would do it all over again, even if it means breaking something again.

Thats a shame it broke (again). If you could've kept at it, you would have had a really great run by the end of the night! You were getting better and better every time!

It's always fun going to the track! Did you go down to PIR or make the trip to Woodburn. I didn't think PIR had a full quarter. I went up to spokane a few weeks ago but they didn't have any clocks or lights, I was ticked, drove two hours and it was just grudge racing. Still had fun though.

Not to bad of times there. Getting good et's in a street car is all about the launch. You can probably pick up another .25 by practicing and seeing how far you can push the car before the tires break loose.

I did go to PIR. They run 1/4 mile for the "Late Night Street Legal Drags" on Friday's and Saturday's, not always but most of the weekends. and they run 1/8th mile for the "Wednesday Night E.T. Drags".

That's exactly what I was trying to do. I wanted to see just how far I could take it before the tires broke loose, but I ended up breaking something else instead. lol. I guess for a non-posi 2.56 geared rear end with 255/60/15 Grand Am Radial's, I didn't do too bad.

Next year I'll be prepared with rebuilt suspension, posi unit, Lakewood traction bars, and 28x12.50 M/T ET Streets. Maybe even step up to the ET Drags, and 3.42 gears.
