Hi people, I'm new the membership as I just purchased an 81 Camino that is very nice, totally stock (V8-auto) with only 36000 original miles on it. One thing for sure . . I want to get the "almost stock" wheels and tires off it quickly, and put something nice on it.

I've been told that 60 series is the most I can go . . . and the off set limits the wheel size to 15 X 7". Is this stue and can anyone help me with information on possible wheel retailers. Thanks in advance . . .

What you heard is untrue however I can not provide you with any size limits as to what exactly will fit, but look at this to show you that bigger will fit - http://www.chevytalk.org/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=962251&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1

I have 275-60-15s on 15x8s and the rear is lowered 3", but it is a tight fit with no rubbing and those are some big tires.

Backspacing can be a little over 4" although some people fit 5" with tires that don't stick out the side too much. Yo can probably go as high as 26" total wheel and tire diameter and as wide as 8" all the way around. Some people fit much bigger sizes with some modification. As far as 60 profile, I have 215/60 profile Firestones on my 15x7 rallies, but I plan on getting 245/45 17"x8" Boyd Smoothie 2 wheels. These are actually almost the same total hight.

You can figure out some tire proportions by using THIS (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html)
