Just recently aquired an El Casmino of my own... The door sticker states its a 77. (manufactuered 8/77, but by the vin its a 76?? .. 1D80U6BXXX-XXX.. Also the different engine codes for those 2 years, means the difference between a 400 small block or a measly 305 LOL... Could the car be a hold over from 76 production run that was completed for the 77 model year?? Any help to these perplexing questions would be appreciated.. Also this is my fiorst post here too and just tjought id say what a terrific site and resource center this is.... (RH)

Well I have an idea which is a possibility however I am not totally sure. I guess my first question is what year does the title say? Well cause maybe the door was replaced with a different door from a 77 elky. Maybe that is something you wanna check into.

Well di I fell foolish... took another look and found where I screwed up... The mfg date is 8/75, and the vin lists it as a 76, so it works out ok and I have a small block 400 in it by the code, NOT a 305 LOL , thanks for the replys folks..
