As a few of you have read a while ago,I thought I was having cam problems.Poppety pop pop out the exhaust.A friend of mine found an older thread talking about vortech heads on a monte carlo forum. It stated that vortech's are actually different than the older small block heads. They said to get plugs for a'96-up engine, and not the shortie plugs.So...I DID!What a difference it made!Ya know it's amazing what can happen when you put the fire where it belongs! It even runs WAY better than before I had the problems.Lays rubber at the drop of a hat, even with the 2.41 gears  In thespring I plan on putting better gears in,and a nice beefy cam as planned.Thought I'd spread some good news...for once, and possibly food for thought to some out there.Later elky lovers!

I have Edlebrock vortec heads on my 383ci small block. I can't seem to get it to run 100%, but I assume it is a carbueration problem. I will have to look into the plugs I am using. I have Autolight 103's in it now, i will have to reference what they are designed for. Good info! -Matt

It'll definetly wake it up! I thought the same thing then it got worse thinking it was the cam. When i took it for a spin the response I noticed is practically immediate. It's gonna be worth your while to check into this, you'll be glad you did!....trust me 8) good luck!

Dave, I found that 96 camaro z-28 uses Autolite 106 plugs. I think they are the same plug just a different temp rating. So far the 103's look to be the correct plug.

did you crossreference the plugs at all? any kind of plug for a '96-up is different than because its longer than the older style small block head.the vortechs are actually different they have different runners and chambers.i also compared plugs between the ones i was using and the correct one,and they are about a quarter to half an inch longer at the firing end, also a little taller too.the firing end was too far from the center of fire.not to sound too opinionated but i had alot of bad luck with autolites, but thats me.good luck

Ben, the Vortecs you want are the '96 & up model years. Thats when the "performance" changes were made.
