A smog legal V-6 no matter how modded will barley outperform a good running 350. The V-6 mileage will be even with the small block so why go through the trouble?

The 700 trans will bolt up to the Chevy 3.8 V6. With the amount of $$$ involved to get a V^ to perform like a 350, you could buy/built 2 350's!

I agree, why in the world do you think a 3.8L V6 could be better in any way over a 350? The only 3.8L V6 to consider is the turbocharged versions and prefably those in the Buick GNX, Pontiac Trans Am or Cyclone and Typhoon trucks.

Hadn't thought of that angle. I guess if you were to get an old T-type turbo motor (with the turbo of course) that would be a worthwhile swap.

Check out one of our members Dave...http://www.cardomain.com/id/grandcamino
When he is done his Buick turbo v6 should, if not blow "all" stock 350 away with ease!
Check out his site to ask him any questions.

I would advise you to check with your local smog testing station to determine whether your desired setup will pass smog requirements. In some states, anything that was not available as stock will not pass the visual test, so be careful you do not invest a lot of $ only to find out the vehicle will not pass smog requirements.

Any vehicle can be made to pass smog regardless of engine make or size and chassis. You need to seek out the referee to determine what he will require to certify the combo. CA is by far the srictest of all states and we several Jaguars/ small block chevys and Toyota pickup/small block Chevys running around here that we smog every 2 years.
