Maybe somebody here can answer my question...I know the factory ran the plug wires under the manifolds on big blocks, and I'm looking to do the same with mine, cause I'm tired of burning the wires on the headers and don't particularly like the way they look hanging over the valve covers. Were they held in place with clips, or what? Anybody have a picture they can scan for me?
Thanx,

i have just installed a "cut to fit" set of wires on my BB. they went over the v/covers the long way around but it came out nice. the BB in my '76 does not allow much room to route wires. i was a little unsure about cutting and crimping. a normal wire stripper/crimper did the job.

I've always run the cut to fit wires, I thought they had a better chance of getting the sparks from my MSD to the plugs. I don't care for the modern billet wire seperators I've seen that run them along the outside of the valve covers though. I was kinda hoping to run them under the headers completely, but I was poking around in the garage tonight and it looks like there just isn't much room in there. Still looking for a solution.

I have a set of "Made for you" wire seperators got them at Jegs,These seperators attach to the valve pan bolts and do not lay on the valve pans.they are set up like the billet ones(billet lay the wires horzonal) made for you are vertical in a row.And make for a clean install. With the love/Hate relationship I have with headers,I'll be Dam#d if I'm going to burn a $70 set of MSD Wires.

On my 76's engine I got a cheap set of wire looms that run the length of the valve covers. They mount using the vlave cover hold downs (Wing nuts). THey not only keep the wires off the headers but they keep the temp sens wire off as well.
This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have aluminum tall valve covers with the cover studs in the heads. I just unscrew the tall wing "hold downs" (I don't know what else to call them) pull the loom off and out of the way and I can instantly get to all my header bolts without having to fuss with getting around all the wires and other crap that generally drapes off the engine or is attached.
THe loom cost me about 25.00 at an auto supply. I got another for the 80's engine but they are Chevrolet logo looms and they ran about 75.00 a set, polished aluminum with a Bowtie on them (blue bowtie). I also use stock length Accel wires.
Just a thought.
