Looking for a "Bed Rug" for my '86' EC, mgf says they don't make them anymore but maybe a dealer may still have one somewhere. Anyone have any ideas?

Honest Charleys sells an Upholstered Bed Liner. (http://www.honestcharley.com/ec%20bed%20cargo.htm) And you can get a 10% discount for mentioning the NECOA. There are other companys that make a rubber bed liner too.

I saw one made of indoor-outdoor carpet. Looked pretty good.

Why don't you ask President Clinton where he got his. He had an Elky with a astro turf rug and supposedly he wore it out....and not by practice putting.

DRBOB, I think your reading it wrong. That "official wet blanket" of 87Elcamino's is part of his signature. He wasn't calling you a wet blanket.

If that's the case I owe 87 an appology. Honest C's has a bed carpet that pretty much requires a lid as well. I'm trying to fing the actual "Bed Rug" brand. I may have to check with a boat dealer for the material and throw one together.

Once again, sorry to all!

I wouldn't worry about it, Ernie (87Elcamino) has thick skin and is a good guy.

Anyway, if you want to put some words for your ID, just go to your profile and scroll down, in the middle you will see a spot to put in up to 255 letters/numbers etc. for your signature.

Good idea about trying a boat dealer for the bed rug. I've seen guys who have done it themselves but have never seen a kit. I kinda like the idea though.

Hey DR Bob -- a73elky got it slightly wrong....Ernie G's got a thick neck, not thick skin. And he travels to the left coast a lot. Better keep your Elky in the garage if he comes to your neighborhood.. Unless, that is, you make real nice with him. Besides being our "official wet blanket", he has more tech info to share than a dozen "Mr. Goodwrenches."

Anyway, you're a real full-fledged member if Ernie got you riled up.
Welcome to the club!

I think some people might be a little too sensitive.

If you like the idea of a carpet why not go to a carpet store and buy a remnant big enough to fit the bed. All you need do is first make a pattern from construction paper or cardboard to get the exact shape of the bed then cut the carpet according to the pattern. Indoor/Outdoor carpet should do the trick.

Appreciate all the feed back, a73elky was right, I was reading Ernie's reply wrong, guess I've been on too many other boards where I've run into a lot of smart A's and rude comments. Ernie, if you see this , sorry bud. The foot in mouth shoe leather taste is ... New to this site and still figuring it out.

I'm basically looking to protect the bed when I need to carry anything, look nice, avoid rust, and not leave the bed scratched up if removed like a hard shell liner can do. Saw the "Bed Rug" advertized and liked the concept.

So, from sunny, make that rainy, CA "Like, have a nice day dude"

Welcome to ECC/NECOA Bob!

First of all... you can't have that title because it's already been given to me by other members here. Go earn your own official title. When I decide to give it up I'll make sure you have first right of refusal on it.

Ernie, if you see this , sorry bud. The foot in mouth shoe leather taste is ...
Second...no apology necessary. There's no hard feelings. You can be assured that I didn't sob hysterically like a little girl all weekend worrying and tormenting about it. As Jay and John mentioned, I'm both thick skinned and thick necked. They neglected to mention thick headed.

You’ll find that at NECOA/ECC, both the caliber and quality of our members is superior to other forums. We’re an eclectic crew here, and most members are willing to contribute a friendly as well as helpful comment to all.

Good luck finding your bed rug.
