Just wanted to introduce myself:

I just purchased a '79 El Camino for my 14 year-old to buiild and learn on. It looks nice, but has the rust problem starting - nothing irrepairable. Everything leaks, and I paid too much for it :).

However, I bought it from a friend who does a lot of work for free. He's been in the business for 35 years. I'll get my money back in labor and knowledge.

If anyone's wondering about the name, I'm in the middle of another project involving a Volvo P1800, Corvette power train, custom front and rear ends...well, the only thing left Volvo is the unit body. Truly a one of a kind, if I survive the trial runs in it.

I'm glad to find this forum, and hope to learn from the members.

Welcome to ECC LS1Volvo!

You'll find that this is a friendly group of El Camino enthusiests. There's a vast amount of Elky knowlege here so feel free to ask when you need help with you and your sons project. After you get the LS1 in the Volvo you should put another one in your Elky. :-D

Thanks for the welcome.

Most people aren't familiar with the P1800...There are pics of the original at http://home.fuse.net/jh/

When my son hits 25, I'll consider a more powerful engine in the Camino. There should be used Viper engines available by then :)

Ahh... Pure hotroding. :) Putting a BIG ASS motor in a little body car. Gotta love it!

That little volvo will be sweet when you get it all done. I love seeing stuff like that at shows!

Welcome to the group...I think you're the third father/son combo to join the group that are doing exactly the same project together...I love It!

I remember being a teenager, and I think I would have had fewer problems if my father had time to do a project with me. As it was, I had too much time to get into trouble *grin*
