Here are a few pics of our Elco project. The crossmember was cut for three reasons, its much easier to weld steel, than aluminum, you lose a qt or more when you cut the pan, the engine has more room, even if you cut the pan its close very close on the heater box. We made new mounts that would raise the engine up about 3/4" and we are planning on moving the engine foward about 3/4" we will build a bracket to relocate the alt to the top were the egr valve is. The ac compressor should also clear once the new engine and trans mounts are installed. If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks Scott

Update: We now installed the new mounts and everything works great. The Ac now has enough room to clear without having to cut anything. You can now also pull the plug wires off the coils in the back. The Alt bracket is now done it locates the Alt were the old EGR valve was. The 98-99 manifolds were also added and now clear everything and allow us to use the factory ls1 y-pipe, and cats.

Thanks Scott

So I'm assuming that it doesn't have the LS6 intake on it? Headers would prolly be pretty sick on it too. :D But hey seem to me your doing a really nice job and I absolutely love the idea of the LS1 in an el camino Good luck with the rest of it

Hi Scott,
I love the idea of the LS1 in an Elky. I've discussed the idea with Bill Waxler a couple of times.
We're gonna' drive our LT1 Elkys up to Cleveland and meet you soon. We can talk custom wiring harnesses, VATS bypasses and electric fuel pump choices.
