Well, it is in, no tranny yet as the guy STILL has yet to finish it, said yesterday i would get it today or tommorrow. Which means i cleaned up the old tranny and am installing it, as i have heard this crap before. It is in means, it is in WITHOUT carb , exhaust manifolds, ect. The hoist is holding up the back. Hell took forever to replace motor mounts. FOund out after a trip to carwash that the whole frontend had been replaced, ie, front clip including supsension. But it drives great and they did a very nice job. Explains why my VIN numbe pulls up a V-6, and there was a 305 in it. welp, worked on ti all day yesterday, and heading right back out now. I want this thing fired off tonight. Only thing that really sucks is i will have to RE-PULL old tranny the second my new one finally gets here, but since i gotta be to work thursday, I can't take the chance of waiting for new one. If i leave old one out, i won't get new one, if i put it in, new one will show up. You KNOW that is how that crap works.
I must say, even with the carb and exaust manifolds, and nothing on the front yet, it sure looks pretty sitting in there though, and I KNOW that my elkie is just WAITING to feel the THUMP! of the cam and the first drink from that new carb. Dad is 60 and been working his ass off on this new motor build/install, and my mother has been cleaning tools, holding flashlights, getting parts, and getting coffee the whole time. Dad retires in 2 years and mom gave me that evil look when he stated, "ya know, you can get 350 horses out of a v-6, I might build one for small car." Then came the reply, "You retire in 2 years, this is your last build"
I was joking with them that when i first pull it out of garage under it's own power, I need to buy some Cigars that say IT'S A BOY/GIRL to hand out to everyone that has been humping thier tails off helping. Everyone from my parents to the guy across the street has been over here working, getting dirty, and now installing the new stuff. We should just give the leaders of the work a restorable elkie and a Snap-ON tool box full of tools and room full of parts, it just brings people togather, (wiping tear) can't you see world peace brought on my the proud and majestic elkie...sniff sniff.
