i have an 84 el camino with a 305. i changed the intake, carb, and distributor over (among other things) and when i start it up it will die on me if i don't keep my foot in it a little for several seconds. it never did this in warmer weather. also when i try to accelerate hard it will bog down REALLY bad and it often dies. it also hesitates a little when i accelerate from a dead stop, the longer the stop the worse. It is an edelbrock 500cfm elec. choke carb and an accel Distributor with vacuum advance.

also, how do i use the search feature. so i don't ask questions that have already been answered 50,000 times.

PPhem, It sounds like your Camino is starving for fuel, check or change the fuel filter, and check the fuel pump pressure to the carb for the correct pressures, also check timing to make sure of settings, If car ran well before the swap, check carb settings or check for vacumn leak. good luck

It sounds like a choke problem. Does it do it when it's cold and also when it's warm.
