: Springs eighty3elky 06-09-2003, 08:13 PM Can the front springs be removed from my '83 without removing the control arms. The compressor I have does not seen like it will compress the springs enough. It IS the internal one . Is there a certain type or brand of compressor that works? Thanks in advance! Even with having the lower arms loose it's still real fun getting the new springs in. :? ThanksI just put heavy duty front springs in WITHOUT using a compressor...but it WASN'T EASY!!! And i don't know that i'd "suggest" trying it. Had to use a GB hammer (and a lever) to position the bottom of the spring after putting a little tension on (supplied by jacking up the lower control arm). But BE CAREFUL if you try it!!!
