I was wondering if anybody knew were to find a 700-r4 for cheap my current transmission, a th350, is on its last legs if I anm going to replace it I might as well try to improve it. I was also wandering if certain 700-r4 were better than others

How much you planning on spending on this swap?

I have picked up 700R4s for as little as $800.00 rebuilt without Torque Converter. I'm talking a Performance 700R4 from a Company Called Gobel, actually I know this guy. He teaches hydraulics at A&M and is a consultant to people like TCI Transmissions.

I believe I am probably getting a couple hundred cheaper than some. My other Elky, the 76, has a 700R4 that I picked up from Transmission Masters, a local chain maybe a national chain. Anyway I got it for 1010.00 with a stock torque converter.

BowTie Overdrives is a good place and TCI and Hughes are all good transmission builders and you can get a one from Jim Pace Performance Parts. All have price tags around the 900.00 range and up. Built to last in a performance application.

Good Luck

I just bought a Stage3 700r4 trans fully upgraded with a 2000 stall converter from Custom_transmissions an e-bayseller for $775 and no shipping to replace my tired 700r4. It’s due to arrive Wednesday and I’ll have it in by the end of next weekend. He’s a guy who has been rebuilding transmissions for over 15 years, great customer service. He has a trans shop in Crouse, NC and has a 12 month unlimited mile warranty. He said that the stage 3 is rated for 850 hp and around 700ft lbs of torque. The next listing for the stage 3 with converter is $795. He also had a mild stage 1 700r4 with converter for $695. If your interested check out his listings on e-bay just search for seller custom_transmissions the listings are mostly the buy-it-now type .

Hope this helps
