I just bought a cargo bar with net from JC Witney and it works very well! It adjusts easily and the cargo net is a very practical addition. I was also surprised, pleasantly, at the quality and weight of this $30 item.

I don't see why not, the net is flat so it can be used that way for sure.

I have one of these as well and recommend them. The netting is a set of "bags" that you can stuff things into. Mine came with two hooks that you can hang plastic grocery bags on so they won't fall over.

Using one of the with a hard tonneau gives you something like a functional trunk when hauling small items.
