I'm new to El Caminos and new to El Camino Central but I've been in the old car hobby for almost 40 years. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my first El Camino--a real 4-speed '72 El Camino SS 454--big day! It'll need work, but it's a good start. Doesn't have the original engine, but has a nice-running 454 from an '85 Suburban. Now for my first question on the forum. Can anyone tell me if the headlight bucket/fender extension (the painted metal part surrounding the headlight and forming the nose of the fender) is interchangeable between 1971 and 1972? Thanks.

Yes they are interchangable.

Aside from the local wrecking yards (good luck!). Are there any other sources where new fender extensions can be found? OPGI, NPD don't have them. I sure could use a couple myself as well as a lot of other 71-72 Elky owners would

I have seen a few on E-BAY from time to time.

Yes they are, make sure it's an El Camino one and not a Chevelle one as the Chevelle one is different.
