1985 choo choo front facia distorted by paint shop I think. My elky has a cheap paint job on it and It looks like ever who prepped it heated up the bumper cover and hood scoop cover with a da sander, everything is warpped a lot. Can this damage be strightened out without painting using heat? any ideas?
Thanks Rod :(

Not sure there's a whole lot you can do...you can try a heat gun (blow dryer)...but you might make it worse unless you apply just the right amount of heat and pressure from the underside of the warp. You have the urethane nose I take it...they now make a fiberglass nose because of warpage of the original urethane nose...but if it gets whacked it will crack not flex...so each has it's drawbacks. What about bringing it to the attention of the paint shop to see what they say about them causing it and maybe reimbursing you for damages? A new nose is around $1000 bucks from Honest Charlies.

It could be possible that whoever put the front together left out some shims causing it to distort. The cover, if its original, is just a molded hard rubber like compund so it would be easy to create a distortion if all the body shims are not put back the way they should be.
The hood, that is a different story its suppose to be metal and it shouldn't warp. I'd just look at how it was put on and start there work backwards. If you have to start loosing body bolts to see if it pulles back to shape.

Yes by all means try Elky Pete's suggestion first to see if that solves your problem!!! He makes a very good point...I assumed you were sure that the cause of the warpage was from the sanding.

I believe it to be sanding damage casued by heat and pressure because the hood scoop is dipped in the center no longer flat and it is even distorted in the center on the left and right edges where the part is very stiff. I do not think the sun damaged it. But I will take your suggestion but I think I will pull the nose off and apply a little heat and see if I can provide some support where the dips are.
Thanks for the feedback.
I purchased it the way it is (messed up) hopeing to be able to make it look a little better.
Thanks

Does anyone know how the shims should be positioned on this rubber nose?
