Hi guys, I'm from australia and I have a LS1 in my Holden UTE and was just wondering, from an american point of view what would be best and cheapest way to get more horsies out of it, with out having to do too much. I have had some advice here in australia but you guys would probably have more "experience" than the guy that have givin me advice here.

Thanks
Patty

Go to ls1tech.com . They have the answers you seek. The thing with the LS1 is that it responds to airflow like no other engine before it. Most guys are ruuning upwards of .600 lift with a good flowing set of heads to get power levels above the 500 mark. You will need to invest in a some software like LS1EDIT, or HPTUNER, they run about 600.00 for everything you need. It would also help to know how to use that software, tuning is somewhat of an artform, with practice you will get it. Finding a good tuner in Australia probably is not as easy as here in the states but if you find one, see if he will help walk you through some of basics. A good tune on a stock LS1 can net as much as 20-30 HP.

Just bolt ons will do a lot for you.

1. Under drive pulley gave me abou 7hp.

2. Not sure with the UTE but a new air lid is good for 5~10hp.

3. LS6 intake (if you don't have one) is good for 5~10hp.

4. Exhaust system can be 5~20hp depending on how well the stocker flows.

And of course Heads/Cam and tuning will do wonders. I'm hoping freshen up the motor in my Camaro this spring. Doing Stage 2 heads and a 224 lift cam, I should have 400~425 rwhp when I'm done.
