My radio is not wired properly on my 85 elky. The presets will not hold and the memory buttons are not working. Is the color coding for the wiring hookup standard? The radio is an off brand but I was hoping for some idea what to look for when I rewire the am/fm/cass.

Usually most after market head units are wired red for battery (also for memory), yellow for switch power (actually turns the unit on), and of course black for ground.

i would look at the manuel and to see. when you fing that out you can take a meter and find your constant and remote wires coming off the fuse block. the way to do that is when the key is not in the ignition check your wires until you get one that is hot. to find the constant put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position without turning the car on and check the wires until u find one that is hot, to make sure it is a remote turn the key to the off positon and you should not get any power from that wire.
