Hello. I threw the engine and tranny into my 81 El Camino today. It originally had a 231 3.8 Buick in it, I put a SBC 350/Turbo 350 in it today. My problem is the cross member doesn't line up right, it's quite a bit off. I was going to post a picture but there's no attachment area??? Anyways, my question is. Are the crossmembers different? I was looking under my bosses Malibu, and it looks like it mounts up perfectly. I didn't pay attention whether it's off-center like mine is or not though. It looks like I could take a crossmember from the Malibu and make it work though? Any ideas?

Your picture must be hosted on the internet for this. Use your album in the "member cars" section of the site to host it. After it's in there, right-click, go down to properties, and copy the "URL/Address." Then paste it in the blank that originally showed up when you hit the image button. Hope that helps. If it doesn't work for you, get a crossmember from "Iceman" on this site. He's "pitqueen" on ebay.com :-D

Yes there are different crossmembers...you will now need one for a 350 Turbo. What type of transmission was in your Elky to begin with? I also recommend getting a crossmember from Iceman, especially if you plan on converting your Elky to dual exhaust...if you need help locating him let me know.

Hey, don't worry about it. I used an air hammer to break off the old welds on the bracket and re-welded it to make it fit perfectly. Thanks for the help though guys. I'll try to show some pics of my fabrication.
