Trying to keep my dash looking stock in my 82 elky.
I'm waiting on my factory radio to come in the mail from a guy in Illinois.
I plan to purchase a CD changer but not sure of a good mounting location, and where else can i hook up speakers without having a big box in the storage compartment!!!.
Anybody done this and have some pics and/or ideas?
Thanks
Ray

I used a like new faceplate that matched my color interior from an 86 Monte Carlo and a digital stereo with a five band graphic equalizer and cassette from a 95 Trans Am. The same style Delco system with a single disc CD player can be installed, you will need the mounting brackets and the correct style din plug (available at any good auto stereo store/shop). I purchased everything except the din plug off Ebay for around $115 and it is stock in appearance, but for the 86/87 model. BE VERY CAREFUL when mounting any system in your 5th Gen Elky dash...it is a weak point and can very easily crack!!! However I now have two clocks...the digital...which is always the correct time and the analog...which is correct...twice a day. There are kick panels available from Crutchfield for G-body cars that can be used to mount speakers if your opposed to speakers mounted in the smugglers box or in the doors...but you will need to slightly bend the emergency brake pedal to install the drivers side (I haven't used them). Hope this gives you some ideas.

On my 1987, I have added 2 door speakers using Buick Grand national Concert Sound II lower door panels. These are identical fit to the stock lower door panels, and have 5" speakers in them. You just have to tap a wire off of the front speakers in the dash & run them to the door panels to get them to work.
