79 El Camino

Not any mention of any 4" x 10" center speakers, such as I have on my 79 El Camino. A big sound system is not necessary and I think I would like to replace this speaker. The problem is that I only have space for about a 2" depth. Anyone know of any speakers that would fit?
Thanks

Check www.crutchfield.com . their prices are high but they have good tech advise and a size chart that helps out allot. I also use them to find the speakers I like, then I go to ebay and search them for a good price :)

Hi Mort. Thanks for the input. I had already checked Crutchfields. The problem is that the 4 x 10 that is recommended for the 79 El Camino is identified for the back area. The recommended speakers for the front dash is the two 3 1/2" speakers, which I don't have. Anyway, I think the closest I can find is the Kenwood KFC-415D, which is 2 7/16. I might be able to get that to fit. I also know all of the Diamond speakers are very thin.
Thanks.

I bought one from AutoZone that went directly into my '79 E.C. SS
Anyone know of any speakers that would fit?
So, why don't you just use another 4 x 10?

No problem with the 4 x 10, it's the DEPTH that will be a problem. The stock speaker I pulled is only 2" deep. All the others are at least 2 7/16. I will check out Autozone to see what they have.

i would be willing to bet that although the stock speaker is only 2 in deep, there is room for a deaper (better) speaker....
