i'm redoing my brakes and wanted to know if anyone is running slotted rotors. im replacing all the hardware and changing to dot5 fluid so i wanted to know if stock size slotted rotors would make a noticable difference over new stock ones. where can i get just the rotors, all i find are big brake kits with big prices 8O
thanks 4 the help guys

Stainless Steel Brakes Corp. has zinc coated slotted rotors. Part # S2336P

How did I miss this one... 2 things, why do you want DOT5 fluid and why do you want slotted rotors?
DOT5 is a PITA to deal with and the ONLY applications where it is recommended is on bikes (to eliminate possible paint issues) and on fully restored NON-DRIVER classics (for shelf life). It will not help your braking performance one single bit, in fact it may make it worse.
Slotted rotors, why do you want them? For bling-bling, OK thats fine. For braking perfomance...save your money and buy something that will actually help like getting rid of the pathetic 10" brakes your "G" was originally equipped with.

Have to agree with you 100% Dennis. Dot 3 or 4 changed once every other year is far superior to silicone brake fluid and slotted rotors with todays non-gassing brake pads actually decrease braking effectiveness.

Thanks for bring that up, I missed it. Must have been a fluke. I'll try harder to make sure it doesn't happen again. :P

You know, those things can happen. Serendipity, I think they call it. Don't worry, they'll disagree on something by tomorrow. But have you noticed the "mellowing" lately???

Ah, you guys are very cynical, I think if Dennis and I lived closer together we would be good buddies. We would probably be arguing and disagreeing with each other but I respect Dennis because of his passion...even if he is mostly wrong.

haha u guys are funny
but i have a q for you guys...
I want to upgrade my breaking system...what all do i need to do? do i need a whole new brake master cylinder and brake lines and all that or can i just get new calipers and rotors?
If i can just get new calipers and rotors, what is the best for the buck and how much difference will i feel?

Unfortunately the choices are very limited if you use the OEM spindle and upper control arm. Even rear disc brake choices for the stock 7.5" 10-bolt rear end are almost non-existent. Any kind of significant increase in "whoa-power" is pretty expensive for a G-Body. Do a search and you will find many different mods but all of them are expensive and complicated.

I use the rear aluminum G/F body drums, much better than the stock drums.Thats if money is an issue for the rear disc swap.
