Does anyone have the front and rear bumper shocks drilled and collapsed in order to move the bumper closer to the body?
I have an extra set of front shocks and would like to tuck my bumper in a little closer to the body. I thought I would ask if anyone has done this or has pictures to save me a little work trail fitting.
As it stands I see drilling the bumper shock to relieve pressure and then collapsing them. I would remove the front corner body fillers and then when I get it aligned weld the shocks into place. Does this sound correct? jim

I've never seen somebody do the work and haven't done it myself (yet  ), but everything you said is the same way I'd do it. I've also seen them narrowed to fit better to the body on the sides which also looks good. I hope you don't have a front end collision once you weld those shocks though!

I have that done to the front bumper on mine. I had it narrowed, tucked in, and painted. It's nice to have some of the toughness of a front bumper still and also have a nice, modern look.
I'll have to take some pictures.

Thinking of the same but you would have to narrow it also otherwise it might look even more bulky.

what years are you guys talking about? did you paint the front bumper the same color as your car? I think that would definitly improve the look of the 5th gen.

This is the way to do it then, I hope.
I have already re-chromed my bumpers and even have new bumper fillers all of the way around. I just thought that I would like to have the front one pulled up a little tighter to the Elky.
I thought about narrowing them before I had them chromed but passed because of the chance of an ugly chrome job that wasn't finished correctly.
Like I said, I have an extra set of shocks laying around to experiment with and thought I might do this when the weather warms up a little. Thanks Jim
