Does anyone know the HP and Torque numbers for a 1985 Elky with the 305 3sp. auto?

http://www.chevelles.com/elcamino/ec_engine.htm

this shows all the available engines for el caminos for all years. It doesn't show torque though.

BTW 1985-1987 LG4's had 165 HP

Ernie

If your talking about the data on Chevelles.net I believe Dan Carr did that some years back. I also think that Dan is a registered member of NECOA. I recall seeing his name in the members list.

I used that page and still reference that data and the other data they have on their web site. Some time ago I commented on a question about weight, yada yada yada anyway one of our members shot back at me that I was wrong and once again referenced that data. To date, it is about the only Web available place to get data.

We should possibly attempt to have a place where we can collect and reference data like that. My thoughts anyway. I am pretty sure it would be a formidable ordeal to set up for each year but useful to most of the membership.

?!?!?!

I do not want to seem disrespectful to Dan Carr, Chevelles.net, or anyone else. But, the fact of the matter is, the data that you and others choose to use as reference material is flawed. I'm surprised no one else has questioned it before.

I've been compiling data on the 5th generation El Camino for as long as I've owned them, almost twenty years. During that time, among other things, I've acquired many original GM data books and parts manuals. I have quite a large library to draw my information from. Believe me, before I make a comment about 5th generation El Camino specifications, I've done my homework.

Recently I've been working on a few 5th gen articles that I will be submitting here, as well as posting on my own site, to clear up some of the confusion.

I would imagine that doing something like that is very challanging, collecting data on all year models and options. I don't doubt that your manuals are correct. I would hope that GM knows what GM does. I was just pointing out that that site is the only real place that has that type of data in one spot accessable on the web. I think there is a note where he says that if it is in error you could e-mail him. So I would guess that even he figures some could be inaccurate. I don't know how he collected all that data or the sources he had to draw from.

I doubt that he, I don't know him personnally, would be offended by what you said.

Hopefully not for too much longer. I'm going to try and finish some of the 5th gen technical specification articles this weekend.

I did locate Dan Carr on the ECC members list but there was no e-mail address to contact him. I found his e-mail address at chevelles.com and sent him notification of the errors.

I got a response from Dan Carr: "I took that info from an unreliable book a couple years ago. I have since collected all the sales brochures, so I just made all the necessary changes to the page."
