glassman

I have an 81 Elky. I had to have the driver's side window replaced a few months ago. I got the window from a boneyard but the little plastic gizmo that is mounted onto the window glass was broken. This is the little "eye" that engages with the "hook" at the top of the door frame and pulls the window in to make it fit properly with the weatherstripping. This model doesn't have a sold frame around the window. When I had the glass replaced, it wasn't a big deal because my weatherstripping was so worn, it didn't fit well anyway. I've recently installed new weatherstripping around the door and now the window won't seal properly since this "hook and eye" gizmo is broken.
The guy who replaced the glass for me said you could simply take a punch and drive the rivet out of the old one and then get a replacement. I was incredulous about it, but he drove out one of the rivets himself, and it wasn't difficult to do. GM doesn't stock this gizmo any more, but I've ordered one from EC Parts (good folks there).
I was wondering if any of you have done this before and if you have any tips for me.
