I bought my '84 last April and didn't notice the oil pressure problem until weeks later. It has a zz4 crate motor(355hp) with a 700R4 and a 3:08 posi rear-end. When driving with speeds up to 45 mph and 2000 rpm the oil PSI is 35 (engine temp at 180) If I get above 45 mph and rpm of 2200 or more the oil pressure guage jumps between 25 and 35 PSI. It's like it picks up oil then stops, picks up oil then stops. Dipstick shows pan is full. I've had two suggetions from friends: oil spinning in pan or excessive oil build-up in top of engine. Any more suggestions??

Is the oil pan dented any? I've had a problem with the oil pump cavitating when the pickup was to close to the bottom of the pan and it got worse with more rpm's----unless there is a problem with the drain back holes I doubt you are filling the top of the motor at streetable rpms...............Dan
