ok in my search for an lt1 vette engine (94-96) someone has suggested to get a camaro lt1 and swap the oil pan with one from the lt1 vette. inorder to solve the problem with the oilpan and crossmember hitting on the 80 elcamino it will be going into.

can this be done? do the holes line up? is the pickup and internals in the vette the same as the camaro, in regards to the oil pan clearing the internal parts.

if it can be done then I have one more problem, the a/c compressor on the camaro hitting the x-member. what mount kit can be used for the a/c?

are these the only to things that will get in the way of the camaro engine fitting in the elky opposed to the vette.

thanks

The LS1 is motor that has the problem with the oil pan and crossmember not the LT1. If you get any LT1 it should just drop in place. The LT1 uses basically the same external, oil pan/motor mount, configuration as the original small blocks.

The AC compressor for the Camaro and Impala LT1 hits the passenger side frame horn in front of the crossmember, not the crossmember itself. You can 1) cut and box the frame for the clearance or 2) get the Corvette LT1 that has the AC compressor on the drivers side up high.

the problem is getting a vette lt1, they are a bit harder to find than the camaro lt1. so I want to find out if the oil pan and brackets are interchangeable between the 2 engines. if the oil pan is the same and that isn't an issue on either lt1 then just the accessories would need to be swaped around, that is if my info is correct.

Yes.
