HELLO, My first post, What I have is a 95 Z28 with a lt1 and 4l60e trans.(son plowed a ditch and twisted the frame) A co worker has a 84 El camino for sale. I believe I can get for around 900 bucks. He claims its a SS but I can't find a Z15 code. Anyway, if I do this swap the mechcanical part is no problem, its the wiring. Can any one help me with step by step instructions ( ie, take blue wire and connect to blk wire ect.) I not to good with schematics. I know the vats has to be bypassed and going to electronic trans to a mech. speedo cable could cause problems. But, the big things like the obdII, ses light, shift points ect. Also does the ecm absoublty need reflashed. your thoughts please.
PS Just wondering, will the rear end fom the camaro fit the El camino
Thanks Chris

Wish I could help you with the wiring but I don't have any notes from mine it was figure it out and when it worked I was done.

A 95 is OBDI just so you know. You will need to reflash the computer but you can send it out for that if you want. I used pcmforless.com and it only cost about $50 or so. VATS can be eliminmated with the flash. You'll need the ECM reflashed for your rearend gears and rear tire size. Otherwise the ECM will not be able to calculate the speed you are going and run the motor at it's best. You can have the shift points adjusted or use the stock settings up to you. Bryan at pcmforless can do pretty much anything you want.

For an SES light you can use the existing 'Check Engine' light. Thats what I did.

The rearend will not work in your Elky. The mounting is different from the 2 for one thing.
