My Husband has a 1977 El Camino that we are currently having painted. Would like to find a hood ornament for him. Does anyone know what and where I need to look.

I didnt find anything new. you will need to look in the wrecking yards or newspaper. the part is used on 76-77 malibu & el camino only. Good luck!

Chevrolet usually liked to stick a "fleur de lis" design on their hood ornaments wherever they could. My 74 arrived minus it's hood ornament too. What I found came off of a malibu. It should be a round medallion with the shape of a shield in the center. From the side the ornament part kind of resembles a big coin.
I've included a couple of links to pictures of mine. This is not the stock look but will give you an idea. Where you see the black and red was actually covered by a layer of plastic that over time just clouded up and started to disintegrate into dust.

That is a nice looking one but may not fit right on a 4th gen. The header panel in front of the grille has a bump up on it that matches the bump up that runs down the middle of the hood.

Couldn't really tell unless you had them side by side. 8)
