what year elki had an electronic speedo?

I have an 80 elki with a mechanical speedo and the lt1 swap I am doing has an auto tranny with electronic speedo. so I am thinking if the right year with an ss cluster will fit in mine and have an electronic speedo I wouldn't have to worry about any converters.

There were no El Camino`s with an electronic speedometer. I have been looking at swaping an LS1 in which also uses an electric speedo and the only way is to use an abbott cable X, or to put a aftermarket electronic speedo in. If you are using the 4L60E from the LT1 you may be able to put a mechanical speedo gear inside the trans and then run a external vehical speed sensor. I think that JTR jags that run offers that conversion. I don`t know if you could use factory parts as I think they eliminated the provisions to hold a speedometer gear on the tailshaft when the 4L60E started using a VSS.
