I have an 86 with a 305 v8 that I bought about almost a year ago and I've been working on ever since. When I bought it the guy I bought it from told me he'd replaced the brakes. When I had a friend give my car a tune up he noticed that all but one of the break lines were new and the old one burst as soon as he stepped on the break. I've had that fixed but what I've noticed is that if I step on my brake when I'm stopped and hit the gas my front brakes lock up and my back tires spin freely. Another one of my friends explained to me that I have line lock brakes. Although I've been having a hell of a lot fun smokin out my back tires every once in a while I really don't know anything about these brakes or even if this is really what I have. Please tell me if I'm right and also tell me if these type of breaks are even legal. Thanks

Sounds like you have a serious problem here, first off anyone in their right mind wont hook up a line lock system to work the way you explained because that sounds dangerious. A line lock system is by design only to work with a switch that YOU operate and control. So what you have here is the rear brakes are failing to work and you need to have this inspected ASAP. Could be something simple as air in the line as you stated the lines have been replaced but still has some air in them.

Linelock requires a solenoid valve and a switch to activate it. It looks like the rear brakes on your Elky are so maladjusted that they are almost inoperative so when you step on your brake pedal you lock the front disc brakes and the rear drums are not working. Other possibilities are defective master cylinder, defective wheel cylinders, defective combination valve, and plugged or pinched brake lines. You should fix that asap, because in a panic stop control could be difficult.

is it possible that the way my breaks aren't line lock and they are set up so that my rear brakes are only effected by my e-brake and my front brake are only effected by my break pedal. I'm just tryin to make some sense of whats going on in my car and wether its going to cause me any problems later on.

If they're drums in the rear, most likely they're just set way too loose. Get out the brake spoon!!

No, I don't think you're brakes are "set up" that way. No one who can tell a screwdriver apart from a wrench could be that stupid. Elraptor86, you need to have someone look into your problem as an accident could happen.

what you are exlpaining the problem could be in the master or the front brake lines to determain the location would be get them so they are locked and won't turn after the pedal is released, then loosen the front brake lines at the calipars one at a time if still locked loosen the lines at the master.

i've seen brake lines break in the line acting like a oneway valve comin in older lines, or masters failing also check your break line block located not far from the master cylinder where it T's all lines to front and back that has a valve in it that could be fetching up hop this helps you.

Good Luck.
