hey everybody my brother is trying to find out if his el camino is a ss or not it has the emblem on the dash the guages and the front air dam. his cowl tag is as follows

a51 7426
any body know and aslo wants to know his original paint color and etc.

1AW80 = El Camino 2-dr pickup delivery
D = Doraville GA final assembly
019142 - Body serial number

62v 11l 11w 94a l
62V = Camel Tan interion
11L = Antique white lower color
11U = Antique white upper color
94A = ? Could it be74A - Strip color = Bright Red

A51 = Seat code for bucket seat
7426 = Unknown internal plant ID code

How does everything add up. You may have some erros in reading the tag and I made what I assumed to be the correct interperations. Let me know if I am wrong.

Look for the build sheet. It is usually found under the headliner, the a-pillar, or under the seat. I found my build sheet in my '85 under the headliner. I later found out that my elky was an orignal SS w/grey interior and black exterior. The build sheets have a lot of info and are cool to have! -Matt

An "SS" should have "Z15" in the RPO code. Jon

Notice the Z15 RPO on the right center of the cowl tag. If it doesn't have Z15, it's not an SS!
