Hey guys, just thought I'd ask your expert opinions on using a small shot of nitrous on my 383. only problem is that I didn't build it with nitrous in mind-(no forged internals)motor makes 400 hp at the crank and I was thinking of adding a conservative 100 HP shot for extra umph. What do you guys think??If ok what kind of system would you reccomend? Thanks.

You should be fine with a 100 shot. Where many people fry there engines is not setting up additional feul pumps and so on. Be sure to read up and set it up correctly. You also may have to play around with the timing and octane you should use as well. Use it sparingly and you should be ok.
It's when you get carless with it that parts start to fail. When used correctly it is a proven and reliable power improver; Has been for years!
And no I'm not a salesman :D
Just a user.

Providing the correct amount of fuel pressure and volume, along with the proper timing and proper spark plugs, nitrous wouldn't be a problem. Like 80elcamino said, most people blow stuff up by running the nitrous to leen or too much timing causing the burnt valves and pistons. As long as you stay around 100-150hp nitrous system you should be ok. That small of shot only requires one fuel pump and 7-1/4 lbs of fuel pressure. Good Luck! -Matt
