I'm swapping out engines...the one I'm installing has the long water pump where the one I have in now has a short pump. The way the heater hoses are routed now comes from a outlet on the side of the short pump that does not exist on the long one. There is a plugged water outlet on the top of the long pump. Can I use this outlet to run the "feed" hose to the heater core? Thanks!

Yep. Should have one hose plugged into the intake manifold and the other the water pump. Most I have seen have the water pump fitting located on the top as you describe rather than the side.
