: El Camino 3rd brake light by Top-Serve
87ElCamino 02-09-2005, 02:55 PM I want to pass along this tip on adding a 3rd brake light to any generation El Camino.
I've been looking for a nice 3rd brake light for quite a while. Recently I found a web site that offered exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something that was functional and could be easily removed when I take my Elky to a show. I just received my new 3rd brake light from Top Serve www.brakeflasher.com and I think it's pretty cool. I ordered it on a Saturday and received it three days later by First Class Mail. The best thing about it is it doesn't have to be a permanent fixture. It has two silicone suction cups that allow it to be mounted anywhere in the rear window. The 10 LED's are huge and the electronics circuitry appear to be well designed. I bought the 10 LED Flashing-Steady LED Brake Light (http://www.brakeflasher.com/brake.htm). It needs to be wired into my brake light switch and it comes with 12 feet of wire with a jack in the middle so the light can be unplugged and removed. They also make a smaller self contained unit with it's own battery and a built in acceleration switch so it comes on when you brake.
If anybody else is interested in buying one I'll find out what is necessary to set up a group buy.
WINGMAN 02-09-2005, 03:10 PM I'm interested if we can get a better deal.
Sure, I'd like to see a NECOA discount. I sure there would be club interest. There was a lively discussion a couple months back:

Iamopie2 02-09-2005, 04:13 PM or you could have a custom third brake light and be done with it

LeoC2 02-09-2005, 04:17 PM I've been looking for a temporary light for a while, this small self contained one just may do the trick. Stick it in the rear widnow and remove it when at the show! I ordered one, can't go wrong for $28.00. I'll check it out when I get it and post the results.
thats nice, however how about this one??

I like that one even better 8-)
Ya, choices are good sometimes, but in this case, I dont know which one....
LeoC2 02-14-2005, 12:33 PM I just received my order of the TopServe brake light. I ordered the one that needs no wiring, it works on a mercury switch. I haven't installed it yet but it seems like quite a neat product. If you tilt it back or move it and abrubtly stop it flashes the LEDs which are very bright. It attaches to the window with suction cups. This may be a good temporary item to move from car to car or if you don't want to install a permanent one in the Elky. I'll test it out in the next few days and post the results.
By the way, if you order one they include a flyer praising Jesus and St. Paul... very strange thing to include if you ask me.
File 5 06-11-2005, 04:37 PM INERTIA?
does that mean it would flash under acceleration too? just curious.

No, the mercury switch only works one way. I've had it in the Elky now since Sept. and I love this brake light, it really works well.

What a great idea no wires and suction cups allow easy removal and installation from one Elky to the other.
Anyone wanting a third brake light buy this you will not be disappointed.

bbailey_33 07-14-2005, 07:39 AM does the "INERTIAL" shine through really dark window tinting?

I've sent an e-mail to the manufacturer about possibly getting a group discount. I'll post the response when I get it. I'd be willing to co-ordinate the group buy.
Now, how many of you would be interested? The more we buy, the better the price will be.
blackhellfire 03-02-2008, 07:38 PM I wanted to throw this out and see if anyone has succeded with installing a bed light in the upper bed trim right above the rear window? Perhaps even a third brake light with it? Wanted to try this one but first wanted to see if anyone else has.

80blacky 03-06-2008, 10:40 AM I'd be interested for one on the group buy. I have always thought that the brake lights are a little too low for SUVs and pickups to see.
I would be interested in the Inertia one

87ElCamino 03-06-2008, 04:24 PM 80blacky and 85SS,
This thread is three years old. The group buy never happened as only one other member expressed an interest in getting one. However, this company is still in business. I'd suggest contacting them through their website http://www.brakeflasher.com if you're interested in getting one of their products.
