Anyone have any experience with the secret audio systems(or anything like them?) My dash came with a shoddy cut up radio plate(5th gen) So I am gonna replace it with a sheet of plexiglass(painted black on the back side) and some gauges. I would like to mount the radio hidden for a real clean look. Any Ideas? Maybe a pod from the headliner?

I have seen people mount remote controlled radios in the glove box, or even under a center console door (if you have one). I customize golf carts and they make a roof mount radio console that you could make work. Just some of my ideas. -Matt

I just recently completed a floor console that fits under my stock stereo where the ashtray used to be. I can post some pics if you would like. I finished it in a weekend. Its relatively easy. A friend had proposed the idea of me making a place for it in the headliner as well however he also did his in a dodge dually and the elky interior is more like a car. not alot of room if you get my drift.

I would love to see your pictures, Please post them here or email them to me at megaman2287@aol.com. Thanks! Yeah there isnt too much room up top to put much. But the secret audio face plate is like 5 inches so I will check it out.
thanks again

I don't know what you mean by secret but this is what I did with a wood plate and some leftover leather.

I would like to see those. I've been playing with the idea of doing this to mine. Maybe get some ideas on how to go about it.

I always wanted to make a hidden DVD player in my glove box. Make it so that when you closed the glove box, no one would know a DVD player is inside. And I would like to make it so you open the glove box door normally and as you turn on the DVD player, it slides 'forward' and allows the screen to pop-up in front of the dash, where the passenger can view it. This could also be done via remote control....

anyone done this sort of thing, and/or can give me a website/location to see it done, and source of the materials needed (including DVD player)??

Have you ever though about mounting it in the Storage Box? If you want to hide your stereo then mount it on the Smugglar's box and mount it to the top so its not in the way if you have to remove the spare or store something in there. Most Stereos come now with Remotes and that would work out good if that is what you did.

No one would think to look not only in the storage compartment, much less in upder the top of it. It would be about the right height to make it pretty accessable and with the rear curtian its completely out of sight.

Just a thought.

That would be a great place for a CD changer... Hmmm

the only problem with mounting your radio in the smugglers box would be that most radios that have a remote would not work....most stereo remotes are operated by an LED infared light....that means that you would have to point the remote at the deck for it to work

this is the same as with my radio.....i cant even turn it around backwards and make it work

however it would be a good place to put the CD changer

It's already cut up. Just use the space and put in what you want.

Don't use a piece of plastic to cover it. It will look like a piece of plastic.

I went with mounting the control panel for the secret audio in the drivers armrest, the radio receiver went above the stock radio(yes it just clears the heater control panel) and the 10 disc changer in the smugglers compartment.
