I asked this once before but only got a few replys and was hoping for a few more. Does anyone own or has anyone seen a 1968 SS396 with a vinyl top and 4 speed trans that is original. I want to buy a 68 SS but can only ever find ones with either the 4spd or the vinyl top but never both on the same car. I've looked on and off for 2 years and pretty seriously for about six monthes to no avial. I know they do exist, thanks to reply from my previous question. I really want an original car but fear I may have to do a trans swap or add the top which I really don't want to do. :-( Thanks for any help on this. :-)

I have seen several of them... A lady in my car club has one.
Why would it be such a big deal to add a vinyl top to a 4spd car? I can under stand how adding a 4spd to a stock auto car could be a pain, but adding the vinyl top is super easy.
I really want something that is original. If it's not too much trouble let me know any more info on her car. :) I wouldn't mind contacting her and finding out some things myself if you had any contact info for her.

She is not an "online" person.... But i have some other pics of her car i took for the website, i'll try and dig them up for you.
I know her car is a numbers matching origonal car- It had been stored in a barn since the mid 70's when she bought it in 1993, it was repainted, and the engine was pulled and re-built. but otherwise its all origonal.
Another guy in my car club has a 68 SS396 /4spd Elky- It does not have a vinyl top right now, but i know the paint on the car is not origonal. I will have to ask him to check the trim tag for me to see. It very well could have been one too.
