: Hit and run on my elky WHAT DO I DO!!!
da bob 02-15-2005, 05:28 PM Bad news everyone
I went to my friends lacrosse game at school today (yes we have a lacrosse team) and after the game I walked over to my car to find a dent in the passenger door, and not just a little nudge, lets just say that the rounded door is now flat at this area about ½ the size of a foot ball and has 3 little dents like there was ridges in the other cars bumper and a scratch above it by about 3-4 inches. Anyways I was wondering what to do since there was no insurance info or any number anywhere around my car and believe me I walked around that car about 20 times to make sure. So my question to all of you is
WHAT DO I DO NOW???
Do I call the police or what? I’ll call isurance tomorrow and I am going to my schools office tomorrow and seeing what they say and see if the cameras see it buy any chance. (Didn’t go today because I thought they where closed and I was pretty T.O.ed)!!! I’ll probly stop by the school we played at and talk to there office too. But does anyone have advise on what to do?
Moneypit 68 02-15-2005, 06:18 PM THAT SUCKS!! Fortunately(?) it was just the door. Hope it's not TOO beat up....hopefully your insurance will cover it. Good luck finding the no-note-leaving #@*%#*% that ran into your elky....without video or an eyewitness it's gonna be hard :(
allanova 02-15-2005, 06:25 PM Unless you keep it in the shed all the time S#it is gonna happen.

I got lucky, my neighbor say who did it. ( my drunk neighbor hit it). his insurance paid. hope yours pays also.
I feel your pain, but it is only a car & can be repaired.
hang in there, you'll feel better in awhile.

da bob 02-15-2005, 06:42 PM Is there anything you guys and girls can suggest that I do?
allanova 02-15-2005, 06:47 PM Call your Insurance agent.
Maddening 02-15-2005, 06:58 PM I think you already may have not done enough.. You should have called the police to the scene before even moving your car. You should still get in touch with your insurance ASAP (they all have 24 hour numbers), should have done that at the scene too. Do it now anyway. Not much else you can do if you don't get a tape of it tomorrow. It sucks, but sometimes sh*t happens.
gr8ridejester 02-15-2005, 10:55 PM I'm not sure what the laws are in TX but, in Louisiana, a parking lot is considered "private property". With this classification, each party is responsible for his/her own vehicle damage. You really should have reported it at the time of the incident, but you can't change that.
Definitely see if it was caught on camera. That could be used as evidence in the court...which you'll prob end up having to go to in order to get $ for your Elky.
Don't let too much time pass before going to the police station and get an incident report filed. I had an accident when I first started driving where I was not at fault but didn't realize how bad the damage was. So, I didn't call the cops to the scene. Luckly, my parents had me go in to file the incident report because I found out the lady, who hit me, tried to do the same thing about an hour later...only saying I hit her and ran.
I hope this all works out for you. Someone had to have seen what happend. The truth is out there! 8O Good luck! 8-)
Howard 02-16-2005, 05:55 AM Yup, like everyone said, file the reports and get the paperwork done..its probably to late to catch the culprit now.
I had my 77 Sprint hit out front of my parents house and the guy kept going. I was on the phone with the cops before the snow even settled and there was a motorcycle cop(yes it was winter) at my door in minutes.
After some yacking on thier radios they caught a guy running a stop sign a few blocks away with damage on his vehicle and paint scrapes the same color as my car...the guy totally denied everything until the cops threatened to impound his car for eternity while they matched cars paint and did the CSI thing.
Long story short....he paid$$$ :)
theelcaminofactory 02-16-2005, 08:58 AM I would organize a bunch of vigilantes and hunt the sucker down like the dirty dog that he is...don't get mad...get even, that's my motto! If any cops are reading this you do realize of course, I'm just kidding! 8)
Mrapii 02-16-2005, 11:21 AM Just suck it up. If you live long enough many of these "not fair" incidents will occur. Don't dwell on it...get it repaired and get on with your life.

Thank you for the inspirational note....
As for the issue at hand, police and insureance co. asap. It sucks when it happens and it's happened to a good majority of us I'm sure (me included) but what's done is done and now you move on. Obviously the guy who hit you had no insurance and no desire to take responsibility.
Just look at it as kind of zen thing where nothing happens without reason or recourse. In other words, the guy who hit you will get his a$$ in a sling down the road.

darkangel59 02-16-2005, 02:00 PM i would call the cops and call your insurance and call the place where it happened and see if they got anything on tape.......other than that keep your head up it could have been a whole lot worse i mean getting your elky hit is really bad but if you think about it more worse could have been done oh like i dunno encaving the whole door panel to the point of the repair. so keep your head up and the person that did it will get what is coming to them **expessialy for messin with an El Camino!!!!

da bob 02-16-2005, 06:29 PM Went to see if it was on tape put the police at my school said the cameras are not pointed in the direction of where the game was. Also I called the school area police department and I have to drive down there and file a claim, my thought is should I also consult the city police or do you think the all together some how?
1Fast65Elky 02-16-2005, 08:17 PM Thats like trusting a rent a pig dude. Sorry if there are any security gaurds on here, I'm sure you do a good job. Honestly, GET THE REAL POLICE INVOLVED not the silly campus cops. They are there for monitoring delenquence and chaos not traffic, that needs to be filed the way it needs to be. Or better yet contact BOTH. U really needed to have a report done at the scene.....but i guess thats too late, now mabey they can take a "statement" from you or something. I think its gonna be tuff finding that person...dont forget about insurance co.
Anyway sorry about your problem man that sucks balls.
Good luck to ya.
