im going to buy my uncles 72 el camino next weekend and theres a few repairs i want to do once i get it.

the main problems im concerned about are the doors.

the right door will not open from the outside, but you can open it from the inside. it can be opened if you pull really hard though, my dad and i couldnt open it, but my big football playing cousin could. does anybody have an idea how to repair this?

another problem is if you dont put the door latch from the inside of the left door down before you get out of the car the left door will be stuck too. if the latch remains up the door will stick.

thanks for all the help i really appreciate it

The left side outside door handle quit working for me on my '68....I pulled it out of the door (with tools!) and straightened the plunger slightly (the one that makes contact with the latch mechanism inside the door)...it worked for me. On your left door it's most likely the return spring is broken on your inside door handle mechanism. My right side interior door handle has a broken spring,I plan to replace it eventually, but my door doesn't hang up from the handle staying up. I'd pull the door panels, and lube/adjust/clean the door/window linkages. That should help some and it'll give you a good chance to clean any drain-hole-plugging debris out of the bottom of your doors.

the spring retainer came out of the button on my door handle and allowed the plunger and spring to fall apart. reassembled, lubed, and it works fine. I did have to bend the plunger slightly to keep it from slipping off the striker.
