I keep getting hung up on this "generation" thing on my '76 Sprint because the '73-'77's are actually 3rd Gen A-bodies but 4th Gen El Caminos but then it hit me..... there were no Sprints before '71 so my '76 is actually a "2nd Gen"......... My brain hurts. :?

They say "the mind is a terrible thing to waste", or was it, "the mind is a terrible thing" ? :)

Just look at how the Members Cars Galleries (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?name=Gallery) are divided up.

Hmmmm. No mention of GMC Sprint at all! :?
Well, since it's a Sprint NOT an El Camino :P I'll consider it a 2nd generation. Now if I can just break MYSELF of calling it an El Camino.

i hear the generation gap is supposed to be .35
but if your running a hotter generation, like the 1970's, then you can run a .45 gap

Actually, the correct quote is:
A Waist is a terrible thing to mind.

yeah but it would be the same 'generation' as the El Camino it looks like. Technically, you would be correct, that it is only the 'second' generation of El Camino's, but I think thats too much remembering to do...
in fact, now my head hurts! :P

Technically your correct. If it wasn't for the 59 & 60 then the 73 ~ 77 would be the third generation of El Caminos also, like Chevelles. So it fits in the third generation on most Chevelle and Cheverolet Boards and Clubs. Most don't pay attention to El Caminos to even catagorize them, some just pile them ito the Trucks catagory, and they are that too.
As for the GMC Brand then yes its Gen II of only three total short generations. :-(
