: El Camino "Only" Cruise-in?

Who's in favor of having an El Camino "only" cruise-in at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY (45 mi. NE of Nashville, TN)? Or, somewhere else? The NCM is use to hosting cruise-ins and a list of hotels, eating places, etc. is readily available. The museum has hosted cruise-ins for other than Corvette only clubs. The tri-five Chevys, even a national Porsche club has met there. And, for Corvette fans, the museum is practically across the street from the Corvette assembly plant, with tours available twice daily on weekdays.

Let's wait on scheduling until we've run up some counts on the "Poll".

Sounds like a great idea to me. I drive my Callaway ZR-1 to BG's ZR-1 Weekend every May.

Look under September 18-21, 2003 on this link: http://necoa.org/Calendar.htm (then click on the link to MIDWESTCHEVELLES, then click on upcoming events)
I believe this is the best choice for an NECOA national cruise-in for this year. St. Louis, MO. The Chevrolet El Camino/GMC Sprint-Caballero (every year, 1959-1987) are the "featured model" for this Chevelle regional meet.

Yep, Tony, I bet you'd like Bowling Green, KY. Let's see what kind of turnout we get in St. Louis in September. Then we'll see if the new NECOA regional directors would like to get regional meets in some of their regions for 2004.

Why not Kansas City? Sure it's right by the St. Louis show, but I don't think my parents would let me go down to KY by myself. That, and I've got school, but it's up to the people.

Wow that sounds great! I for sure would be on your list if I lived closer. San Francisco is a bit far. :-(

Good Luck!

Thanks, Dave.
The NECOA Regional Directors, with the help of this board and the NECOA officers, can stage Regional cruise-ins and certainly draw at least a half-dozen or more El Caminos/Sprints-Caballeros.

Contact an NECOA Regional Director, or other NECOA officer for details or assistance.

Thanks for everyone's work on behalf of this fine vehicle and the great folks on this board.

I have some folks here looking for a date for a national cruise-in for ELKYS. They are willing to make a drive. Don't let this idea die. We need to show our numbers in strength. Bowling Green sounds ok to me. And my friends really don't care they just want to go!

There's also the Peach State Chevelle Club's annual ACES Southern Regional show in early May (yes, they just had #5) in Gainesville, Ga college campus (northeast of Atlanta) that draws a decent number of Elky's....a beautiful campus and area, might also be nice once in a while to set up a gathering coinciding with that event... ?

of course the problem is its only for 2nd and 3rd gen Elky's/Chevelles....but we could always maybe set up space next to them (there is plenty of room) and sort of have simultaneous shows and we could promote each others events. This would then be able to allow Elky's of all years.

but I am interested in Bowling Green too so wherever, lets do it. :P
