Yeah, I've definately gone past the point of no return.
This all began when I started converting from A/C-equiped to heater only. I figured I could replace the dash at the same time.

The old dash was severely cracked, had holes that I think was where a CB was mounted, and more holes from gauges. I also didn't like that it was brown/saddle in color. Here's my replacement that I painted black:

In that pic you can also see the headers I've got waiting to be put on.
Here's a close up of how well it turned out:

Looks like you have a good amount of work ahead of you! Seems like it will fix up the interior much nicer than before though. 8)

Yes, I would say that! It should be worth it in the long run.

V.G.-I did the same thing to the dash in my '68....pulled it to paint it black(changed from Ivy Gold),replaced a few light bulb sockets, and installed a factory clock. Turned out GREAT and makes the interior look 100% better. When my wife/friends saw the gaping hole w/ wiring dangling out and the dropped-down steering column, I noticed that "It'll never be right again" look on thier faces....

I can feel your pain. I just went through the same thing. It looks bad but it should be easy looks like the wireing is all there which makes it a little more easy to do. I spent days with a tester tracing wires and trying to get things working. Lots of the wires I had in there had been cut. The way you are going is the best since you will get a better look than trying to paint and detail it in the car. Good luck I am sure its going to look good when you are done.
