I'd like some 13" C5 brakes up front. Has anybody here done this? How much and how hard? What's this I read about making a hub from old rotors?

Yes you have to take a set of stock rotors/hubs and have the rotor portion machined off. This will give you the hub for the C5 rotor to mount on. I'm in the process of doing this now. I just got the hubs (need to take pictures and add them to my site) so now I can start designing the bracket for the caliper. I'm doing a design more like Wilwood and Baer do then smaller plate many are doing. Go

My brake page 1 (http://www.poltergeist.us/page/Elky/Brake_conversion.html) for sites that have information that will help. Especially the 3rd gen Camaro site. And go What I have (http://www.poltergeist.us/page/Elky/ElKy_pictures_brakes.htm) for the parts that I've gathered so far. The first link has quite a bit of locations for information.

Also see this thread (http://elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=6530). Dennis68 did this to his Elky. The work required is the same as a 5th gen.

Thanks for the links. I never saw most of them before.

Once we machine our own hubs, wouldn't it be just as easy to buy Wilwood or Baer calipers (6 piston???) and rotors (up to 14"???) and just figure out where to drill the holes and make the mounts for the calipers? I would think that wouldn't be too much harder and would stop even better. At that point though, it starts to sound like one of those companies kits

So with 13" or 14"??? rotors up front I would need to upgrade my rear as well I guess. Does anybody know what size discs for the rear? (I have the disc brake prop. valve in from Inline Tube) Will I need a different type of master cylinder?

I think I WILL do a brake upgrade, but it will be later when I have some money. I'm spending enough on my front suspension as it is! 8O

I have a total of about 350.00 wrapped up in my front brakes. You can't touch Wilwood or Baer in an equivelant size for even 1/3 of that money.

I'm using 9.5" drums out back for now, they will eventually be 12" discs.

Dude, as long as it took you to get THOSE brakes working, now you want to change the setup again 8O . I don't get it :!:
